Openclaw cli: OpenClaw: Prevent shell injection in macOS keychain credential write (CVE-2026-27487)
Description
A command injection vulnerability exists in the openclaw CLI on macOS when refreshing keychain credentials. The vulnerability arises because user-controlled OAuth tokens are passed unsafely to a shell command, allowing potential OS command injection. This issue affects openclaw versions up to 2026.2.13 on macOS. The vulnerability is fixed in version 2026.2.14 by avoiding shell invocation and using a safer execFileSync call.

Technical Analysis
The openclaw CLI on macOS constructs a shell command to write updated JSON blobs into the macOS Keychain using the 'security add-generic-password -w ...' command. Since OAuth tokens are user-controlled, this creates an OS command injection risk. The fix replaces the shell invocation with a direct execFileSync call passing arguments literally, preventing injection. The vulnerability affects openclaw versions >=2026.1.29 and <2026.2.14 and is patched in version 2026.2.14.
Potential Impact
Successful exploitation could allow an attacker with user-level privileges to execute arbitrary OS commands on macOS via crafted OAuth tokens. This can lead to compromise of the local system confidentiality and integrity, with limited availability impact.
Mitigation Recommendations
A patch is available in openclaw CLI version 2026.2.14 and later. Users should upgrade to this version or later to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation is required as the fix prevents shell injection by avoiding shell command construction.
