Technical Analysis

The OpenClaw CLI's QQ Bot Extension lacked consistent SSRF protection on media download paths, meaning requests could bypass the SSRF guard and allowlist policies. This vulnerability affects versions >=2026.1.29 and <2026.4.8 of the openclaw npm package. The vulnerability was addressed and fixed in version 2026.4.8, with the fix verified in the main branch at commit d7c3210cd6f5fdfdc1beff4c9541673e814354d5. The advisory clarifies that the trust model is scoped to OpenClaw as a user-controlled local assistant and does not assume a multi-tenant service boundary.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows SSRF attacks on all media fetch paths in the QQ Bot Extension of OpenClaw CLI, potentially enabling unauthorized internal network requests or access to restricted resources within the local environment where the assistant runs. However, the impact is scoped to the local trust model of OpenClaw and does not extend to multi-tenant environments.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available in openclaw npm package version 2026.4.8. Users should upgrade to this version or later to remediate the SSRF protection issue. The fix has been verified with regression tests. No additional mitigation actions are indicated by the vendor advisory.
