Openclaw cli: OpenClaw SSRF guard misses four IPv6 special-use ranges (CVE-2026-41361)

Published: 08/13/2026 (08/13/2026, 17:21:32 UTC)
Source: GCVE Database
Product: openclaw-cli

Description

OpenClaw CLI had a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) guard that incorrectly treated several IPv6 special-use address ranges as public, allowing requests to these normally restricted addresses. This could enable an attacker controlling a fetched URL to target internal or non-routable IPv6 addresses that should have been blocked. The issue was fixed in version 2026.3.28.

Technical Analysis

The SSRF/IP classifier in OpenClaw CLI did not recognize four IPv6 special-use ranges as non-public, permitting SSRF fetches to these addresses. This vulnerability allows an attacker who controls the fetched URL to access internal or non-routable IPv6 addresses that the SSRF guard was intended to block. The problem was located in the source files src/shared/net/ip.ts and src/infra/net/ssrf.*, and was corrected by commit d61f8e5672 which blocks the missing IPv6 special-use ranges. Versions up to and including 2026.3.24 are affected, with the fix included starting from 2026.3.28.

Potential Impact

An attacker able to control the URL fetched by OpenClaw CLI could exploit this vulnerability to send requests to internal or non-routable IPv6 addresses that should have been blocked by the SSRF protection. This could potentially expose internal network resources or services that are not intended to be accessible externally. The CVSS score is 3.1 (low severity), indicating limited impact primarily on confidentiality with no integrity or availability impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available and should be applied. Users should upgrade OpenClaw CLI to version 2026.3.28 or later, which includes the fix that blocks the missing IPv6 special-use ranges. No additional mitigation actions are indicated by the vendor advisory.
