Published: 08/13/2026 (08/13/2026, 17:21:32 UTC)
Source: GCVE Database
Product: openclaw-cli

Description

OpenClaw CLI versions up to 2026.3.24 have a vulnerability in the Telegram webhook authentication mechanism where repeated incorrect secret guesses are not rate-limited. This allows an attacker to brute-force weak webhook secrets. The issue is fixed in version 2026.3.25 by adding throttling on repeated guess attempts.

Technical Analysis

The OpenClaw CLI's Telegram webhook authentication previously rejected invalid secrets but did not implement any throttling or rate limiting on repeated failed attempts. This lack of guess rate limiting enables an attacker to perform brute-force attacks against weak webhook secrets. The vulnerability affects versions from 2026.1.29 up to but not including 2026.3.28, with the fix introduced in commit c2c136ae9517ddd0789d742a0fdf4c10e8c729a7 and released in version 2026.3.25.

Potential Impact

An attacker can repeatedly attempt to guess the webhook secret without being throttled, increasing the likelihood of successfully brute-forcing weak secrets. Successful exploitation could lead to unauthorized access or control over webhook-triggered functionality. The CVSS score of 4.8 (medium) reflects limited impact with network attack vector, high attack complexity, and low confidentiality and integrity impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available and should be applied by upgrading OpenClaw CLI to version 2026.3.25 or later. This update introduces throttling on repeated failed webhook secret guesses, mitigating brute-force attempts.
