Published: 08/13/2026 (08/13/2026, 17:21:32 UTC)
Source: GCVE Database
Product: openclaw-cli

Description

An authorization mismatch in OpenClaw CLI allowed authenticated users with write-scoped agent access to invoke owner-only tools such as gateway and cron. This flaw permitted control-plane actions beyond the intended write scope. The issue affects versions up to 2026.2.26 and was fixed in version 2026.3.1 by enforcing consistent owner-only gating and tightening tool scope classification.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-32051 describes an authorization mismatch vulnerability in OpenClaw CLI where authenticated callers possessing operator.write access could invoke owner-only tool surfaces (gateway, cron) through agent runs in scoped-token deployments. This allowed write-scoped callers to perform control-plane actions beyond their intended permissions. The vulnerability was addressed by enforcing owner-only gating consistently during agent execution and refining tool scope classification to eliminate the privilege mismatch.

Potential Impact

Authenticated users with write-scoped agent access could execute owner-only control-plane tools, potentially leading to unauthorized control-plane actions beyond their intended scope.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available in OpenClaw CLI version 2026.3.1 that enforces owner-only gating consistently and corrects the privilege mismatch. Users should upgrade to this version or later to remediate the vulnerability.
