Openclaw cli: OpenClaw's inbound media downloads could exceed configured byte limits before rejection across multiple channels (CVE-2026-32049)

Published: 08/13/2026 (08/13/2026, 17:21:32 UTC)
Source: GCVE Database
Product: openclaw-cli

Description

OpenClaw CLI versions up to 2026.2.21-2 do not consistently enforce inbound media byte limits before buffering remote media across multiple channel ingestion paths. This allows a remote sender to trigger oversized media downloads, causing elevated memory usage and potential process instability leading to denial of service. A fix is planned for version 2026.2.22.

Technical Analysis

OpenClaw CLI has a vulnerability (CVE-2026-32049) where configured inbound media byte limits are not consistently enforced before buffering media from remote sources in several channel ingestion paths. This flaw allows an attacker to cause the application to download media exceeding the configured byte limits, resulting in increased memory consumption and potential process instability or denial of service. The issue affects versions up to and including 2026.2.21-2 and is addressed in the planned release 2026.2.22.

Potential Impact

An attacker can cause elevated memory usage and potentially destabilize the OpenClaw CLI process by sending oversized media payloads, leading to denial of service conditions.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available and planned for release in version 2026.2.22. Users should upgrade to this version once it is published to remediate the vulnerability.
