Technical Analysis
The OpenClaw CLI's Microsoft Teams plugin allowed a bypass of the sender allowlist when a team/channel route allowlist was configured but the sender allowlist (`groupAllowFrom`) was empty. In this scenario, the message handler synthesized a wildcard sender authorization for the matched route, effectively allowing any sender in the matched team/channel to bypass the intended 'allowlist' sender check. This vulnerability does not affect unauthenticated access but weakens the group authorization boundary, potentially allowing unauthorized group senders to trigger replies in allowlisted Teams routes. The issue affects versions up to and including 2026.3.7 and was fixed in version 2026.3.8.
Potential Impact
Unauthorized senders within a matched Teams route could bypass the intended sender allowlist restrictions and trigger replies in allowlisted Teams routes. This weakens the group authorization boundary but does not affect unauthenticated access or other security controls.
Mitigation Recommendations
A fix is available in OpenClaw CLI version 2026.3.8. Users should upgrade to this version or later to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official fix.
