Product: openclaw-cli

Description

CVE-2026-32018 affects the openclaw-cli package, where concurrent operations on the sandbox registry can cause race conditions leading to lost updates or resurrection of removed entries. This occurs due to read-modify-write registry writes without proper locking, causing stale snapshots and overwrites. The issue impacts sandbox state consistency and related commands such as sandbox list, prune, and recreate. Versions up to 2026.2.17 are affected, with a fix available in version 2026.2.18.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in openclaw-cli involves concurrent updateRegistry and removeRegistryEntry operations on sandbox containers and browsers. These operations perform registry writes using a read-modify-write approach without locking, allowing race conditions that can cause lost updates or the resurrection of deleted entries. This leads to desynchronization of sandbox state and affects commands that rely on accurate sandbox registry data. The issue is fixed in version 2026.2.18.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability can cause inconsistent sandbox registry state due to race conditions during concurrent updates. This may result in lost updates or removed entries being resurrected, affecting the reliability of sandbox management commands such as sandbox list, prune, and recreate --all. There is no direct confidentiality or integrity impact on data outside of sandbox state management.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available in openclaw-cli version 2026.2.18 that addresses the race conditions by serializing sandbox registry writes. Users should upgrade to version 2026.2.18 or later to remediate this issue.
