Technical Analysis

The vulnerability identified as CVE-2026-100586 affects OpenClaw Codex versions prior to 2026.7.1. It arises from improper enforcement of owner authorization when creating native conversation bindings. Attackers who are non-owner channel senders but have command access can exploit this weakness to create bindings to the native Codex runtime. This allows them to execute host-capable turns with elevated privileges, granting access to system files, tools, and processes.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability can lead to complete compromise of the affected system's confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Attackers can execute arbitrary commands with elevated privileges, access sensitive files, and manipulate system processes, posing a high risk to affected environments.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in OpenClaw Codex version 2026.7.1. Users should upgrade to this version or later to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation guidance is provided in the vendor advisory.
