Technical Analysis

The OpenClaw npm package (openclaw) prior to version 2026.8.1 has an access-control bypass vulnerability (CVE-2026-100550) in its Microsoft Teams integration. When the groupPolicy is set to allowlist, if a configured access group is missing or unsupported, the group-resolution incorrectly results in denial but this denial is not enforced by the final message admission check. Consequently, a Teams member outside the allowlist can still activate the configured agent, bypassing intended group boundaries. The impact depends on the permissions and data accessible to the agent. The vulnerability is fixed in version 2026.8.1.

Potential Impact

An attacker who is a Microsoft Teams member but not on the allowlist can bypass access controls and trigger the OpenClaw agent. This could lead to unauthorized access or actions depending on the conversations, tools, and data accessible to the agent. The CVSS score is 5.4 (medium severity), indicating limited confidentiality and integrity impact without availability impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade OpenClaw to version 2026.8.1 or later, where this access-control bypass vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation is indicated.
