OpenClaw versions >= 2026.3.25 and < 2026.8.1 apply invalid-token rate limiting for Synology Chat webhooks before authentication and key the limit… (CVE-2026-100572)
OpenClaw versions from 2026.3.25 up to but not including 2026.8.1 implement invalid-token rate limiting for Synology Chat webhooks based on the raw proxy socket address before authentication. In environments where OpenClaw is behind a trusted reverse proxy or tunnel and multiple external clients share a single socket address, an unauthenticated attacker can exhaust the shared invalid-token rate limit, causing legitimate webhook callbacks to be temporarily rejected. The attacker cannot obtain valid tokens or access message data. This results in a temporary denial of service for Synology Chat webhook channels. The issue is fixed in version 2026.8.1.

Technical Summary
OpenClaw versions >= 2026.3.25 and < 2026.8.1 apply invalid-token rate limiting for Synology Chat webhooks before authentication and key the limit on the raw proxy socket address. When OpenClaw is deployed behind a trusted reverse proxy or tunnel where multiple external clients share a single socket address, an unauthenticated sender can exhaust the shared invalid-token rate limit budget. This causes subsequent legitimate Synology Chat webhook callbacks to be rejected until the rate-limit window expires. The attacker cannot obtain valid tokens or read message data. The impact is limited to temporary loss of channel availability. The vulnerability is fixed in OpenClaw version 2026.8.1.
Potential Impact
The vulnerability allows an unauthenticated attacker to cause a temporary denial of service by exhausting the invalid-token rate limit shared across multiple clients behind a single socket address. Legitimate Synology Chat webhook callbacks are rejected during the rate-limit window. There is no confidentiality or integrity impact as the attacker cannot obtain valid tokens or read message data.
Mitigation Recommendations
Upgrade OpenClaw to version 2026.8.1 or later, where this issue is fixed. No other mitigation is indicated or required.
