Description

OpenClaw versions before 2026.7.1 have a sandbox bypass vulnerability in the browser tool. This flaw allows sandboxed sessions to access paired node browser actions even when the allowHostControl setting is false. An attacker controlling sandboxed agent input can select a paired node and perform operations on the host browser, including inspecting or manipulating the browser profile and its authenticated state.

Technical Analysis

OpenClaw versions prior to 2026.7.1 contain a sandbox bypass vulnerability (CVE-2026-100589) in the browser tool. The vulnerability permits sandboxed sessions to circumvent the allowHostControl=false configuration and access paired node browser actions. This enables an attacker with control over sandboxed agent input to select a paired node and execute host browser operations, potentially inspecting or manipulating the connected browser profile and its authenticated state. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 8.3, indicating high severity with network attack vector, low attack complexity, low privileges required, no user interaction, and high impact on confidentiality and integrity with low impact on availability.

Potential Impact

An attacker with control over sandboxed agent input can bypass sandbox restrictions to access and manipulate paired node browser actions. This includes inspecting or altering the connected browser profile and its authenticated state, potentially leading to unauthorized access or control over sensitive browser data and sessions.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in OpenClaw version 2026.7.1. Users should upgrade to version 2026.7.1 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation guidance is provided in the available data.
