Description

OpenClaw versions prior to 2026.8.1 do not properly neutralize spreadsheet formula characters in participant display names within attendance CSV exports. This allows attackers to inject formula-like cells that execute with the permissions of the user opening the exported file in spreadsheet applications that support formulas.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability identified as CVE-2026-100564 affects OpenClaw versions before 2026.8.1. It involves the failure to sanitize or neutralize spreadsheet formula characters in participant display names when generating attendance CSV exports. As a result, an attacker can craft display names containing malicious formulas. When the exported CSV is opened in a formula-enabled spreadsheet application, these formulas execute with the privileges of the user, potentially leading to information disclosure or other impacts related to formula execution.

Potential Impact

The impact is limited to the execution of spreadsheet formulas with the permissions of the user opening the CSV export. This can lead to limited confidentiality and integrity impacts, such as data leakage or manipulation within the spreadsheet environment. There is no indication of availability impact or remote code execution beyond the spreadsheet context.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in OpenClaw version 2026.8.1 and later. Users should upgrade to version 2026.8.1 or newer to mitigate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation guidance is provided or required beyond applying the official fix.
