Description

OpenDocMan versions 2.4.0 through 2.10.0 have a decompression bomb vulnerability that allows authenticated users to upload crafted office documents (ODT, DOCX, XLSX) which decompress to very large sizes, exhausting PHP memory and causing crashes. This leads to degraded availability of the application.

Technical Analysis

OpenDocMan versions 2.4.0 through 2.10.0 are affected by a decompression bomb vulnerability (CVE-2026-108750) where authenticated users can upload small office document files whose internal XML entries decompress to hundreds of megabytes. This excessive decompression exhausts PHP memory resources, causing PHP worker crashes and resulting in denial of service conditions that degrade application availability.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows authenticated users to cause denial of service by exhausting PHP memory through crafted document uploads. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity reported. The primary impact is availability degradation due to PHP worker crashes.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, consider restricting document upload permissions or implementing file size and content validation to mitigate the risk.
