Description

Plane, an open-source project management tool, has a multi-tenant authorization bypass vulnerability in its asset-management API affecting versions 1.3.0 and earlier. Authenticated users from one workspace can access, delete, or duplicate assets belonging to other workspaces by exploiting insufficient authorization checks on workspace slugs and asset IDs. Exploitation requires authentication and knowledge of victim workspace identifiers, which may be publicly accessible. No patch is currently available as the vendor has not been reached for coordination. Mitigations include network controls and enhanced logging to detect unauthorized cross-workspace asset access.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-15342 is a multi-tenant authorization bypass vulnerability in Plane's asset-management API that allows authenticated users in one workspace to perform unauthorized read, delete, or duplication operations on assets belonging to other workspaces. The API endpoints accept workspace slugs and asset IDs as path parameters but fail to verify that the requesting user is authorized for the specified workspace. Attackers must authenticate to any workspace and know the victim workspace's slug and asset ID, which can be obtained from public or semi-public sources. This flaw compromises workspace isolation, enabling data exfiltration, asset destruction, and unauthorized duplication. No official patch is available due to lack of vendor coordination.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability enables attackers to bypass workspace-level tenant isolation, allowing unauthorized access to sensitive files, deletion of project data, and creation of permanent copies of assets from other workspaces. This can lead to data loss and confidentiality breaches within affected Plane deployments.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or fix is currently available. Users and organizations should implement API gateway rules, firewall restrictions, or other network controls to limit access to the vulnerable asset-management API endpoints. Enabling detailed activity logging and security alerts is recommended to monitor for suspicious cross-workspace asset requests, unusual presigned URL usage, or unexpected delete operations. These mitigations can reduce risk until an official fix is released.
