AI-suggested

A patch is available in pyasn1 version 3.4_1 that fixes the float conversion method to prevent uncontrolled resource consumption. Users should upgrade to version 3.4_1 or later. As a workaround, avoid converting, printing, or comparing decoded Real objects from untrusted sources and instead inspect the raw (mantissa, base, exponent) tuple. Decoding alone does not trigger the issue, so careful handling of decoded REAL values is advised until patched.

Description

A vulnerability in the pyasn1 library's handling of ASN.1 REAL values allows an attacker to cause excessive CPU and memory consumption during float conversion of decoded REAL values with large exponents. This can lead to denial of service (DoS) when operations like printing, logging, or comparing such values are performed. The issue affects pyasn1 versions from 3.4 up to but not including 3.4_1 and has been fixed in version 3.4_1.
