Technical Analysis

The aiohttp asynchronous HTTP client/server framework for Python has a vulnerability identified as CVE-2026-54279. In versions before 3.14.1, host-only cookies that are saved using the CookieJar.save() method and later restored with CookieJar.load() lose their host-only attribute. This behavior could affect cookie handling and potentially impact application behavior relying on cookie security properties. The vulnerability is addressed and fixed in aiohttp version 3.14.1.

Potential Impact

The loss of host-only status on cookies after save and load operations could lead to cookies being sent in contexts where they should not be, potentially affecting application security or behavior. However, the CVSS score of 7.5 with no confidentiality or integrity impact but with high availability impact indicates the primary concern is disruption rather than data compromise.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade aiohttp to version 3.14.1 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigations are specified or necessary as the fix is available.
