Description

Python aiohttp versions prior to 3.14.1 contain a vulnerability in the C HTTP parser that allows bypassing the max_line_size check. This can enable an attacker to send oversized HTTP request lines, potentially causing excessive memory consumption and denial of service. The issue is fixed in version 3.14.1.

Technical Analysis

AIOHTTP is an asynchronous HTTP client/server framework for Python's asyncio. Versions before 3.14.1 using the default optimized C parser have a vulnerability (CVE-2026-54277) where the max_line_size check can be bypassed in parts of an HTTP request. This allows attackers to send oversized lines through the HTTP parser, which may lead to excessive memory usage and denial of service conditions. The vulnerability is addressed in version 3.14.1.

Potential Impact

An attacker can exploit this vulnerability to cause a denial of service by sending HTTP requests with lines exceeding the maximum allowed size, leading to excessive memory consumption in the affected aiohttp server or client using the C parser. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity reported.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade aiohttp to version 3.14.1 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation is indicated or required.
