Description

Python aiohttp versions prior to 3.14.1 have no limit on the number of pipelined HTTP requests that can be queued. This lack of limit allows an attacker to potentially consume excessive memory, leading to a denial of service (DoS). The issue is resolved in version 3.14.1.

Technical Analysis

The aiohttp asynchronous HTTP client/server framework for Python versions before 3.14.1 does not impose a limit on the number of pipelined requests queued. This can be exploited by an attacker to cause excessive memory consumption, potentially resulting in a denial of service condition. The vulnerability is identified as CVE-2026-54273 and has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 7.5, indicating a medium severity. The vulnerability is fixed in aiohttp version 3.14.1.

Potential Impact

An attacker can exploit the unlimited queuing of pipelined requests to consume excessive memory resources on the affected system, potentially causing a denial of service (DoS) by exhausting available memory.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade aiohttp to version 3.14.1 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other specific mitigations are indicated.
