Upgrade pypdf to version 6.21.3 or later, where the vulnerability is fixed. If upgrading is not immediately possible, apply the changes from pull request #4270 as a temporary workaround.
Description
A vulnerability in pypdf (CVE-2026-119208) allows an attacker to craft an encrypted PDF file with a manipulated page count (/Count) value, causing excessive runtimes and large memory usage when the page count is accessed. This can lead to denial of service conditions. The issue affects versions of pypdf starting from 0.16.4. A fix is available in pypdf version 6.21.3.
