Before installing the Zero Trust Workload Identity Manager operator, ensure all previously released errata relevant to your system are applied. If the operator's approval policy is set to 'Automatic' (default), upgrades will be applied automatically when new versions are available, requiring no further action. If set to 'Manual', you must manually approve operator upgrades. Follow Red Hat's security bulletins and advisories for detailed mitigation procedures and upgrade instructions.
Description
A high-severity vulnerability (CVE-2026-111943) affects the Go crypto/x509 package used in the Zero Trust Workload Identity Manager (ZTWIM) for Red Hat OpenShift. The flaw allows improper certificate validation, enabling trust in intermediate certificates from compromised Certificate Authorities. This can lead to man-in-the-middle attacks where attackers impersonate legitimate servers during secure communications. The vulnerability impacts Go-based clients and servers relying on standard TLS certificate verification. The Zero Trust Workload Identity Manager 1.0.4 is generally available, and Red Hat provides upgrade paths for the operator.
