AI-suggested

Red Hat advises ensuring all previously released errata relevant to your system are applied before installing or upgrading the Zero Trust Workload Identity Manager operator. If the operator's upgrade approval policy is set to 'Automatic' (default), upgrades will be applied automatically. If set to 'Manual', manual approval of upgrades is required. No specific patch for this vulnerability in ZTWIM is currently listed, so applying general system updates and following operator upgrade procedures is recommended.

Description

A vulnerability exists in the Go crypto/x509 package used by the Zero Trust Workload Identity Manager (ZTWIM) for Red Hat OpenShift. The certificate verification process fails to block trust in intermediate certificates associated with compromised Certificate Authorities (CAs). This flaw allows remote attackers to impersonate legitimate servers by presenting certificates signed by these untrusted intermediates, enabling man-in-the-middle (MitM) attacks. The vulnerability affects Go-based clients or servers relying on standard certificate verification. The current release of ZTWIM 1.0.4 is generally available, and no specific fixes for this vulnerability have been listed yet.
