Description

Assisted Installer RHEL 9 integrates components for the general multicluster engine for Kubernetes 2.11.1 release that simplify the process of deploying OpenShift Container Platform clusters. The multicluster engine for Kubernetes provides the foundational components that are necessary for the centralized management of multiple Kubernetes-based clusters across data centers, public clouds, and private clouds. You can use the engine to create new Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform clusters, or to import existing Kubernetes-based clusters for management. After the clusters are managed, you can use the APIs that are provided by the engine to distribute configuration based on placement policy.

Technical Analysis

The Red Hat security advisory RHSA-2026:11512 addresses vulnerabilities in the Assisted Installer RHEL 9 components for the multicluster engine for Kubernetes 2.7.10. The multicluster engine enables centralized management of Kubernetes clusters across data centers and clouds. The vulnerability CVE-2026-7163 has a CVSS vector indicating an attack vector over adjacent network, low attack complexity, requiring low privileges and user interaction, with a scope change and high confidentiality impact but no impact on integrity or availability. The advisory does not provide any fixes or patches at this time. The affected components are container images related to the assisted installer and multicluster engine for Kubernetes 2.7.10. No known exploits in the wild have been reported.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability has a high severity with a CVSS vector indicating potential unauthorized disclosure of information (confidentiality impact) without affecting integrity or availability. This could lead to sensitive information exposure within environments managed by the multicluster engine for Kubernetes 2.7.10. There is no indication of active exploitation in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official fix or patch is currently available for this vulnerability as per the Red Hat advisory. Users should monitor Red Hat's security advisories for updates and apply patches once released. Since this is not a cloud service, remediation depends on applying vendor updates when available. No vendor advisory states that no action is required or that the issue is mitigated.
