Red Hat has released official patches for this vulnerability in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 and its variants. Users should apply the updates as described in the Red Hat advisory RHSA-2024:9470. Since a fix is available, remediation involves timely patching. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor.
Description
A security update for the Common UNIX Printing System (CUPS) addresses a remote command injection vulnerability in the libppd component. The flaw allows an attacker to inject commands via attacker-controlled data in a PPD file. Red Hat has released patches for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 variants to fix this low-severity issue. Public exploit code is available via Metasploit, but no active exploitation in the wild has been reported.
