AI-suggested
Red Hat has released security updates for dracut in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Extended Lifecycle Support. Users should apply the provided updates as described in the Red Hat advisory (https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258) to remediate these vulnerabilities. No alternative mitigations or workarounds are indicated in the advisory.
Description
Two security vulnerabilities in the dracut package for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Extended Lifecycle Support allow for root code execution. One vulnerability (CVE-2026-6893) involves command injection via DHCP options, and the other (CVE-2026-15816) involves root code execution through an unescaped error message written to an emergency hook script. These issues affect the initramfs generator infrastructure used during system boot.
