What to do
AI-suggested
Red Hat has released updated fence-agents packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.0 and related variants that fix this vulnerability. Users should apply these official updates as detailed in the Red Hat advisory (RHSA-2026:1329) to remediate the issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the vendor-provided patches.
Description
A security update for the fence-agents packages in Red Hat Enterprise Linux addresses a vulnerability in urllib3 (CVE-2025-66418) that allows an unbounded decompression chain leading to resource exhaustion. The fence-agents scripts manage remote power control for cluster devices, enabling forced restart and removal of failed or unreachable nodes. This vulnerability could impact the stability of systems using these packages.
