AI-suggested

There is no practical mitigation currently available for this vulnerability. Users should plan to upgrade to a fixed version of the brace-expansion package when Red Hat releases it. Until then, monitoring for updates and avoiding exposure to untrusted input that triggers the vulnerability is advised. Red Hat Satellite users should follow official Red Hat documentation and advisories for applying updates.

Description

CVE-2026-13149 is a denial of service vulnerability in the brace-expansion npm package used by Red Hat Satellite's Lightspeed component. The flaw arises from the expand() function's exponential-time complexity when processing specially crafted input containing consecutive non-expanding brace groups. This leads to high CPU consumption and event-loop blocking, causing denial of service. There is currently no practical mitigation other than upgrading to a fixed version once available. Red Hat Satellite users should monitor for updates and apply fixes when released.
