Red Hat has released an official update to Git (version 2.47.1-2.el10_0) that addresses this vulnerability. Users of affected Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 and Extended Update Support versions should apply the update as described in Red Hat advisory RHSA-2025:7482. Detailed update instructions are available at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. Applying this update fully mitigates the vulnerability.
Description
A moderate severity security vulnerability (CVE-2024-52005) was identified in Git, where the sideband payload is passed unfiltered to the terminal. This issue affects Git as packaged in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 and its Extended Update Support variants across multiple architectures. The vulnerability allows potentially unsafe data to be displayed in the terminal without filtering, which could lead to unintended consequences. Red Hat has released an update to address this issue.
