AI-suggested
Red Hat has released updated Ignition packages addressing these vulnerabilities for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6 Extended Update Support and related variants. Users should apply the security update as detailed in the Red Hat advisory (https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258) to remediate these issues. Since fixes are available, applying the official update is the recommended mitigation.
Description
Red Hat issued a security advisory for the Ignition utility used during system initramfs to configure systems on first boot. Multiple vulnerabilities in underlying Golang libraries used by Ignition were addressed, including denial of service via pathological email parsing, crafted email inputs, oversized OpenTelemetry baggage headers, excessive ASN.1 recursion, quadratic complexity in URL path resolution, unencrypted HTTP/2 DoS, cross-site scripting in HTML templates, indefinite TLS KeyUpdate DoS, and XML decoding recursion issues. These vulnerabilities could lead to denial of service or cross-site scripting attacks. The update is rated as important by Red Hat and applies to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6 Extended Update Support and related variants.
