What to do
AI-suggested
Red Hat has released updated java-11-openjdk packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.6 Extended Update Support that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply these updates promptly by following the instructions in the Red Hat advisory (https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258). After applying the update, all running OpenJDK Java instances must be restarted for the fixes to take effect. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
Red Hat has released an important security update for the java-11-openjdk packages in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.6 Extended Update Support. The update addresses multiple vulnerabilities including an array out-of-bounds access in the C1 compiler, RSA padding and timing side-channel issues in TLS, JVM class file verifier flaws allowing unverified bytecode execution, a range check loop optimization issue, arbitrary Java code execution in Nashorn, and logging of digital signature private keys. These vulnerabilities collectively pose risks such as arbitrary code execution and potential exposure of sensitive cryptographic material. Users must apply the update and restart all running OpenJDK Java instances for the fixes to take effect.
