What to do
AI-suggested
Red Hat has released an update for java-11-openjdk packages addressing these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the update as provided in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and 9 distributions. After applying the update, all running OpenJDK Java instances must be restarted for the fixes to take effect. Refer to the Red Hat advisory RHSA-2024:0266 and the update instructions at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258 for detailed remediation steps.
Description
Multiple security vulnerabilities have been identified and fixed in the java-11-openjdk packages provided by Red Hat. These include issues such as array out-of-bounds access, RSA padding and timing side-channel attacks against TLS, JVM class file verifier flaws allowing unverified bytecode execution, range check loop optimization problems, arbitrary Java code execution in Nashorn, and logging of digital signature private keys. The update addresses these vulnerabilities in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and 9 variants. Affected systems must apply the update and restart all running OpenJDK Java instances for the fixes to take effect.
