What to do

AI-suggested

A security update for java-17-openjdk is available from Red Hat and should be applied promptly. The update includes fixes for all listed vulnerabilities and the memory usage bug. After applying the update, all running OpenJDK Java instances must be restarted for the fixes to take effect. Refer to Red Hat's official advisory and update instructions at https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2024:0244 for detailed guidance.

Description

Multiple security vulnerabilities have been identified and fixed in the java-17-openjdk packages provided by Red Hat for OpenJDK 17. These include an array out-of-bounds access in the C1 compiler, incorrect handling of ZIP files with duplicate entries, an RSA padding and timing side-channel issue affecting TLS, a JVM class file verifier flaw allowing unverified bytecode execution, a range check loop optimization issue, and logging of digital signature private keys. Additionally, a bug fix addresses a memory usage issue related to Transparent Huge Pages on systems with many threads. The update is rated as Important by Red Hat and requires restarting all OpenJDK Java instances to take effect.
