AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated java-17-openjdk packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply this update promptly after ensuring all previously released errata relevant to their system have been applied. Additionally, updating the ca-certificates package is recommended to resolve related certificate store vulnerabilities. Detailed update instructions are available in the Red Hat advisory. No further mitigation actions are indicated beyond applying the official patches.

Description

Red Hat has issued a security advisory for java-17-openjdk packages on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, addressing multiple vulnerabilities in the OpenJDK 17 Java Runtime Environment and Software Development Kit. The update includes numerous enhancements and fixes related to cryptographic padding, TLS certificate handling, LDAP logins, SASL authentication, HTTP client and server handling, XML processing, image and font rendering, Kerberos validation, and other components. These fixes collectively address a broad range of security issues identified by multiple CVEs. The advisory notes that the OpenJDK RPMs use the system certificate store, so related certificate issues should be resolved by updating the ca-certificates package. The update is rated as having an important security impact by Red Hat Product Security.
