What to do

AI-suggested

Red Hat has released an updated java-1.8.0-openjdk package that addresses these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the update promptly to affected Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.6 systems. After applying the update, all running OpenJDK Java instances must be restarted for the fixes to take effect. Refer to the Red Hat advisory RHSA-2024:0226 for detailed update instructions.

Description

Red Hat has issued a security advisory for java-1.8.0-openjdk packages addressing multiple vulnerabilities in OpenJDK 8. These include array out-of-bounds access in the C1 compiler, RSA padding and timing side-channel issues in TLS, JVM class file verifier flaws allowing unverified bytecode execution, range check loop optimization issues, arbitrary Java code execution in Nashorn, and logging of digital signature private keys. The update also reverts a previous packaging change affecting dependency resolution. The advisory applies to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.6 Extended Update Support and related variants.
