What to do
AI-suggested
A security update is available for the java-1.8.0-openjdk packages on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4. Users should apply this update promptly. All running instances of OpenJDK Java must be restarted for the update to take effect. Refer to the Red Hat advisory RHSA-2024:0225 and the linked article https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258 for detailed update instructions. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor.
Description
Multiple security vulnerabilities affecting the OpenJDK 8 Java Runtime Environment and Software Development Kit in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 have been addressed in a security update. These include array out-of-bounds access, RSA padding and timing side-channel issues in TLS, JVM class file verifier flaws, arbitrary code execution in Nashorn, and logging of private keys. The update also reverts a previous packaging change affecting dependency resolution. Affected systems must restart all OpenJDK Java instances for the update to take effect.
