What to do
AI-suggested
Apply the Red Hat update for java-1.8.0-openjdk as provided in advisory RHSA-2024:0224. After applying the update, all running OpenJDK Java instances must be restarted to ensure the fixes take effect. Refer to Red Hat's official article https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258 for detailed update instructions. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor.
Description
Multiple security vulnerabilities have been addressed in the java-1.8.0-openjdk packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.2. These include issues such as an array out-of-bounds access in the C1 compiler, RSA padding and timing side-channel attacks against TLS, JVM class file verifier flaws allowing unverified bytecode execution, arbitrary Java code execution in Nashorn, and logging of digital signature private keys. The update also reverts a previous change affecting RPM dependency resolution. Users must apply the update and restart all running OpenJDK Java instances for the fixes to take effect.
