What to do

AI-suggested

A security update for the kernel packages is available from Red Hat for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8. Users should apply the update promptly and reboot their systems to ensure the fixes take effect. Red Hat strongly recommends not delaying these updates as the kernel is fundamental to system security. No alternative mitigations are specified; applying the official update is required.

Description

Red Hat has issued a security advisory for multiple vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel packages used in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8. The update addresses several security issues including invalid pointer metadata access, out-of-bounds writes, use-after-free conditions, and arbitrary kernel code execution leading to privilege escalation. The advisory includes fixes for CVE-2025-39902, CVE-2026-17523, and several other CVEs affecting kernel subsystems such as memory management, DRM, crypto, and CAN bus. The update also includes bug fixes and enhancements. Systems must be rebooted after applying the update for the fixes to take effect.
