Red Hat has released updated kernel packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the kernel update as detailed in the Red Hat advisory (https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258) and reboot affected systems to activate the fixes. Red Hat treats all kernel errata as security-relevant and strongly advises against delaying updates.
Description
This Red Hat security advisory addresses multiple vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4. The issues include a double free vulnerability in xen/privcmd, privilege escalation or information disclosure on ARM processors via writes to higher exception level resources, an IPC next_id allocation limit flaw, and an out-of-bounds write in the device mapper log due to region_count overflow. These vulnerabilities have been rated as important by Red Hat and require applying the provided kernel update and rebooting the system.
