Red Hat has released an official kernel update for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6 Extended Update Support that addresses all listed vulnerabilities. Users should apply the update promptly following Red Hat's published guidance and reboot affected systems to ensure the fixes take effect. No additional mitigations are indicated beyond applying the official patch and rebooting.
Description
Red Hat has issued a security advisory for multiple vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel packages included in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6 Extended Update Support. The update addresses several issues including denial of service, use-after-free vulnerabilities that may lead to privilege escalation, race conditions, and input validation flaws across various kernel subsystems such as proc, net/sched, nbd, ice driver, traffic control, netfilter, bonding driver, usbip, ip6_tunnel, smb client, and md/bitmap. The advisory rates the update as important and requires a system reboot after applying the update.
