Red Hat has released updated kernel packages that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the provided security update for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.8 as detailed in the Red Hat advisory (RHSA-2026:13681) and reboot the system to activate the fixes. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official update and rebooting.
Description
Red Hat has issued a security advisory for multiple vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel packages affecting Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.8. The update addresses a denial of service caused by a deadlock in hugetlb folio migration (CVE-2026-23097), a use-after-free vulnerability in iscsi target code (CVE-2026-23193), a heap overflow in the NFSv4.0 LOCK replay cache (CVE-2026-31402), and a cryptographic algorithm issue requiring a revert to out-of-place operation (CVE-2026-31431). These vulnerabilities have been rated with an important security impact and require a system reboot after patching. The advisory provides updated kernel packages to remediate these issues.
