What to do
AI-suggested
Red Hat has released updated kernel packages that address these vulnerabilities. Users of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.8 variants should apply the kernel update as described in Red Hat advisory RHSA-2026:4242 and reboot the system to activate the fixes. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor.
Description
Red Hat has issued a security advisory for the Linux kernel packages addressing two vulnerabilities: a use-after-free flaw in the page_pool subsystem (CVE-2025-38129) and a buffer overflow in the ALSA USB audio driver (CVE-2025-40269). These vulnerabilities could lead to information disclosure and denial of service. The advisory rates the security impact as moderate and provides updated kernel packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.8 variants. A system reboot is required after applying the update.
