What to do

AI-suggested

Red Hat has released an official kernel update that addresses these vulnerabilities. Users of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6 Extended Update Support and related variants should apply the update as soon as possible following Red Hat's guidance at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. A system reboot is required for the update to take effect. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying this official patch.

Description

Red Hat has released a security advisory for a kernel update addressing multiple vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel. The fixes include correcting the use of waiter::task in remove_waiter() (CVE-2026-43499), preventing a NULL pointer dereference in futex/requeue on self-deadlock (CVE-2026-53166), and resampling the data fork mapping in XFS after cycling ILOCK. These issues affect Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6 Extended Update Support and related variants. The update requires a system reboot to take effect.
