What to do

AI-suggested

Red Hat has released Kiali 2.11.14 for OpenShift Service Mesh 3.1 which addresses this vulnerability. However, direct mitigation options for the Axios prototype pollution flaw are either unavailable or do not meet Red Hat's criteria for ease of use, applicability, or stability. Users should upgrade to Kiali 2.11.14 as documented by Red Hat. Monitoring for updates and following Red Hat advisories is recommended. No additional mitigations are currently provided by Red Hat.

Description

A prototype pollution vulnerability (CVE-2026-42264) was found in Axios, a widely used HTTP client component within Kiali 2.11.14 for Red Hat OpenShift Service Mesh 3.1. This flaw allows an attacker to inject malicious properties into JavaScript core objects, which Axios may then unknowingly use in outbound HTTP requests. Exploitation requires a prior successful prototype pollution attack from another component in the same environment. The vulnerability can lead to information disclosure and manipulation of network requests, impacting data confidentiality and integrity. Red Hat rates this issue as Important and has released Kiali 2.11.14 addressing it. No direct patch for Axios in Red Hat products is currently available, and mitigation options are limited.
