Red Hat has released updated kpatch live patch modules for the affected kernel version. Systems should apply these updates as provided by Red Hat and reboot to ensure the patch is fully applied. Refer to Red Hat's official update documentation for detailed instructions. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official patch and rebooting.
Description
A security update for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 addresses a race condition vulnerability in the kernel's Multipath TCP (mptcp) implementation. The flaw, identified as CVE-2024-53122, involves a race during subflow creation in the mptcp_rcv_space_adjust function. This issue is fixed by kernel live patch modules that can be applied without rebooting, but a reboot is required for the update to take full effect.
