Red Hat has released security updates for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Extended Lifecycle Support that fix these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the provided libvirt package updates as detailed in Red Hat advisory RHSA-2026:69114 and the referenced article https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official patches.
Description
Two security vulnerabilities were addressed in the libvirt library used for managing virtualization on Linux and other operating systems. The first is a privilege escalation issue via symlink following in swtpm (CVE-2026-63622). The second is an integer overflow in the NodeGetFreePages RPC handler that leads to a heap buffer overflow (CVE-2026-18917). These issues affect Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Extended Lifecycle Support versions. Red Hat has released security updates to fix these vulnerabilities.
