Red Hat has released updated libXfont2 packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 that fix these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the security update RHSA-2026:59312 promptly to remediate the issues. Detailed update instructions are available at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official patch.
Description
Two security vulnerabilities have been identified in the X.Org X11 libXfont2 runtime library affecting Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4. These include an out-of-bounds read/write in the font server client encoding and a privilege escalation via a heap buffer overflow in the font server client. Red Hat has issued a security advisory and released updated libXfont2 packages to address these issues.
