AI-suggested
Red Hat has released an updated LVMS 4.13 version with a gRPC version bump that fixes this vulnerability. Users should upgrade to the latest LVMS version in OpenShift Container Platform to apply the fix. Additionally, implementing infrastructure-level normalization of HTTP/2 :path headers using reverse proxies or API gateways is recommended to ensure all incoming requests have properly formatted :path headers with a leading slash. Proper configuration and restarting of intermediaries are necessary to apply these mitigations.
Description
CVE-2026-33186 is an authorization bypass vulnerability in gRPC-Go caused by improper validation of the HTTP/2 :path pseudo-header. A remote attacker can exploit this by sending malformed :path headers that omit the mandatory leading slash, potentially bypassing security policies and gaining unauthorized access. Red Hat has addressed this issue by updating the gRPC version in LVMS 4.13. Users are advised to upgrade to the latest LVMS version in OpenShift Container Platform to apply the fix.
