What to do
AI-suggested
Apply the OpenJDK 17.0.10 update provided by Red Hat to remediate these vulnerabilities. Users on RHEL 7 systems should verify their current OpenJDK binaries using 'java -version' to detect incompatible builds caused by the initial release built with RHEL 8.8 buildroot. If incompatibilities are detected, update to the corrected RHEL 7-built binaries. Refer to Red Hat's official update instructions and the OpenJDK Life Cycle and Support Policy for further guidance.
Description
Red Hat released an important security update for OpenJDK 17 (version 17.0.10) addressing multiple vulnerabilities including array out-of-bounds access, incorrect ZIP file handling, RSA padding and timing side-channel issues in TLS, JVM class file verifier flaws, range check loop optimization issues, and logging of private keys. The update replaces the previous 17.0.9 release and includes bug fixes and enhancements. An addendum clarifies that initial binaries were incorrectly built with RHEL 8.8 buildroot causing compatibility issues on RHEL 7 systems; corrected binaries are now available. Users on RHEL 7 should verify their Java version and update if necessary.
