AI-suggested
Red Hat has released updated python3 packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.8 that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the official security update as described in the Red Hat advisory RHSA-2025:10602. No additional mitigations beyond applying the update are specified.
Description
Multiple security vulnerabilities have been identified in the Python 3 implementation (cpython) used in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.8. These include bypasses of extraction filters allowing modification of file metadata, creation of symlinks, and linking outside the intended extraction directory, as well as arbitrary writes via tarfile realpath overflow. The issues could allow an attacker to manipulate files outside of the intended extraction paths during tarfile extraction operations.
