What to do

AI-suggested

Red Hat states that no mitigation is currently available or meets their criteria for deployment and stability. Users should rely on typical OpenSSL usage patterns that do not invoke the vulnerable low-level functions directly. Monitoring Red Hat advisories for future updates or fixes is recommended.

Description

A vulnerability (CVE-2025-69418) exists in OpenSSL's low-level OCB encryption/decryption functions when used with non-block-aligned lengths on hardware-accelerated builds. This flaw can expose 1-15 trailing bytes of a message in cleartext, which are not covered by the authentication tag, allowing potential reading or tampering without detection. However, typical OpenSSL usage via higher-level EVP APIs, TLS protocols, and FIPS modules are not affected. Red Hat rates the impact as low for its products. No fix is currently available that meets Red Hat's criteria for deployment and stability.
